Giving Back to the Willow Community
Dalton White started school at Willow Elementary as a kindergartener in 2007. He attended school there through the 6th grade in 2014. At that time, Dalton joined Boy Scout troop 360. Last October 2016, Dalton planned and executed his Eagle Scout Project, to collect and donate new and gently used books to his Alma Mater, Willow Elementary school. The project was a success, collecting over 1,000 books, and Dalton was able to donate approximately 575 books to the Willow Elementary school library. (Some were not the appropriate age level, and some were donated to another school.) This is a savings of approximately $6,000 at a low estimate of $10 per book. In January 2017 Dalton passed his Eagle Board of Review to officially become an Eagle Scout, a position that only about 2% of Boy Scouts achieve. Last evening, 16 February 2017, Dalton was honored at the Willow Founder's Day celebration for his donation to the school. In attendance to applaud him were many of the teachers who gave him so much while he was in elementary school: Mrs. Page-Palmer, Mrs. White, Mrs. Klauschie, and Mr. Whittington (missing were Mrs.Hansen - K, retired, and Mrs. Cook - 5th & 6th). What a privilege it was for Dalton to give back to those who have given him so much!
