SUMMARY:Bone Marrow Drive at Life Pacific College
DESCRIPTION:Click Here for the Flier.\n\nThis is Joel. Joel is 16. A year ago he was diagnosed with cancer and was in remission. He is now back in the hospital with relapsed Leukemia -in a more serious battle than ever. He is brave and kind and admirable. His worries are a reflection of his age and innocence: losing all of his hair\, not being able to be with his friends\, and how will he be able to finish his junior year of high school! His mom says\, "If you could see him interacting with his nurses\, it would just melt your heart... you see the sweetness\, determined to make the best of the community he'll live in the next several months." Joel has undergone a lot of hard chemotherapy. However\, while killing Leukemia\, chemo also kills his Bone Marrow which is where you get your immune system from. He will replenish his red blood cells and platelets with frequent transfusions. He literally borrows the blood of others to live. His life at that point is truly saved by it.\n\nIn the meantime\, work has already begun to find a bone marrow donor. This is where we all come in.\n\n\n\n***Consider this- there is a chance YOU could save Joel's life. ***\n\nPlease register at our event! If you can't come in person\, go tojoin.bethematch.org/prayforjoel from anywhere in the WORLD!\n\n\n\nTuesday\, March 28 from 11am to 2 pm in the McPherson Chapel at Life Pacific College (1100 W. Covina Blvd. San Dimas) there will be a bone marrow registry drive for Joel. Show up\, bring people\, send people. They'll ask a few questions\, then swab your inner cheeks. It is painless.\n\n\n\nIf you would like to host an event: contact Joyce Valdez\n\nCommunity Outreach Specialist\n\nBe the Match Registry\n\nCity of Hope Medical Center\n\n626-373-4000\n\njovaldez@coh.org\n\n#prayforjoel
