Inland Valley Humane Society & SPCA Responds to Call for Assistance, Safely Rescues Over 30 Animals in Pomona
Pomona, CA — April 8, 2026 — The Inland Valley Humane Society & SPCA responded to a call for assistance on the 600 block of N. Park in the city of Pomona, where an animal owner proactively reached out for help after exceeding the allowable number of pets on the property.
Humane and Animal Control Officers arrived on scene and worked collaboratively with the owner to safely remove over 30 cats and 2 dogs from the residence. The animals were humanely transported to the Inland Valley Humane Society & SPCA shelter for care and evaluation.
Each animal will undergo comprehensive health and behavior assessments. Following these evaluations, they will be spayed or neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and evaluated for placement. Friendly and social animals will be made available for adoption, while less social cats—often referred to as “working cats”—will be placed with trusted rescue partners where they can thrive in appropriate environments.
The Inland Valley Humane Society & SPCA will continue working with the owner to ensure compliance with the City’s pet ownership limits and to provide support and resources moving forward.
“We appreciate the owner reaching out for help,” said Daniel Pena, Animal Control Supervisor “Our goal is always to support both animals and their owners, and in this case, we were able to step in and provide assistance to improve the well-being of everyone involved.”
The Inland Valley Humane Society & SPCA encourages pet owners to seek assistance if they need support caring for their animals.
